Have you ever felt alienated by a practice that doesn't speak to your body shape?

As a guide, have you ever recognized that your cueing and language might exclude people in larger bodies?

This training will open up comfort and ease in leading yoga to all bodies in the room.

~ Learning Objectives ~

During this course we will study:

  • The importance of size inclusivity in yoga spaces.

  • Learn to create & hold safe spaces for all students regardless of body size.

  • Learn variations of 60 of the most common yoga poses and the props that best support those variations.

  • Become familiar with body affirming and permission based language & cueing.

  • Master demoing from the “ground” up, create thoughtful sequencing, safe transitions, breathwork and time for inquiry and exploration.

Meet Your Guide

Elisabeth Pletcher (she/her) is an e-RYT500 YA certified yoga instructor logging over 8,000 hours of experience guiding Curvy Yoga, hatha, slow flow, yin & yoga nidra classes.

Elisabeth trained with Anna Guest-Jelley in 2013 (Curvy Yoga Teacher 230 hr YTT) in Nashville, TN. She is also certified in Yin levels I & II, Restorative Yoga, Firefly Trauma informed training, Svalja Trauma Sensitive training and completed her 300 YTT through Yess Yoga in 2020.

Elisabeth reluctantly began practicing yoga in her early 40s. Living life in a round, inflexible body made the practice challenging, but with the help of supportive teachers she began to make peace with her body and find contentment and even joy (!) in movement. Knowing what it feels like to carry a history of shame, disordered eating and childhood trauma all inform how Elisabeth guides classes. She strives to create inclusive spaces to explore asana, breath, movement and meditation with an emphasis on supporting students in bodies of size.
